Weekly summary from 18th–24th October 2021

1. Kusama scheduled another 48 auctions

During the last week, the Kusama Council passed Motion 377 to schedule the next 48 auctions! Beginning on 23rd October 2021, the 12th auction on Kusama will commence, and continue on a weekly basis for the next 48 weeks.

In comparison to previous auctions, the winning parachains will be onboarded at the beginning of the next lease period, so not immediately as it was in the past. If any issues, the council will be able to pause the schedule.

2. Bifrost added to Karura with liquidity bootstrap

Bifrost’s $BNC token was added into the Karura DEX by a feature called a liquidity bootstrap. This tool helps add liquidity at the beginning of swapping a trading pair.

Users that added liquidity into the kUSD/BNC pair received over 200k $BNC tokens in liquidity mining rewards.

To this date, you can swap KSM, LKSM (liquid Kusama), KAR, kUSD (native stablecoin) and BNC on the Karura DEX. More pairs/tokens will be added in the future.

3. Shiden Network continues to grow

In 5 days, 10 dApps have been registered. Right now we can see 13 dApps connected to the Shiden Network and more than 3,500,000 SDN tokens have been locked.

Does this growth have something to do with the dApp staking? We can bet on that because as we inform you a few days ago, dApp staking in Astar Network and its canary Shiden is a unique solution for developers that enables them to gain passive income from the network.

4. Crust integrates with Moonriver

Crust Network integrates with Moonriver to Bring Web3 IPFS Storage into the Kusama Ecosystem. This collaboration will allow Moonriver developers to utilize decentralized storage capabilities provided by Crust.

Moonriver is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform, that is a canary network of Moonbeam, that we described in a separate article as an Ethereum layer 1,5 on Polkadot.
