1. Rob Habermeier introduced a proposal for rebranding Asset Hub into Plaza — A scalable Polkadot system chain

Co-founder of Polkadot, Robert Habermeier, recently announced the introduction of the Plaza proposal, with the main goal of rebranding Asset Hub and upgrading its features.

Proposal Introduction

The “Plaza” aims to create a highly scalable Polkadot system chain, consolidating smart contracts and lowering fees on the current AssetHub chain.

Goals and Features:

  • Central Hub: Transform AssetHub into a central hub with features such as smart contracts, bridges, exchanges, custodians, and staking integration.
  • Consolidation: Integrate various functionalities (Asset Issuance, Smart Contracts, Staking, Bridging Pallets) into a single system parachain to improve usability and reduce complexity.
  • Near-zero Fees: Maintain low transaction fees until scaling limits are reached.
  • Strategic Focus: Emphasize building a synchronous system that can handle thousands of transactions per second (TPS) and grow with user demand.
  • Elastic Scaling: Utilize Polkadot’s Elastic Scaling to process transactions in parallel across many cores, enabling the “Plaza” to support millions of daily users.
  • Smart Contract Integration: Support RISC-V smart contracts via PolkaVM, enhancing programmability and interaction with assets and systems.
  • User and Developer Benefits: Simplify interactions by reducing the need to manage assets across multiple chains and lowering the entry barrier for developers.
  • Future Enhancements: Potentially integrate identity and governance functionalities to enhance scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Implementation and Value Accrual: Use advanced engineering techniques to support hundreds of millions of transactions per day and introduce priority-fee mechanisms for value capture.
  • Community Involvement: The proposal is open for discussion, debate, and collaboration, with a Polkadot Wish-For-Change Referendum to approve the “Plaza” plan. This includes rebranding AssetHub, focusing on scaling, marketing, developer education, reducing fees, and implementing priority fees.

2. Snowbridge launches on Polkadot

Snowbridge is now live on Polkadot, enabling trustless transfers of ETH and ERC20 assets between Ethereum and Polkadot. Early adopters can try it now, with full wallet support coming soon.

Built on BridgeHub, Snowbridge enhances security using first-party validators, eliminating third-party reliance. An initial 2-week scale test is underway, after which it will operate fully trustlessly. Explore Snowbridge at the Snowbridge App.

4. Parasail joins peaq ecosystem to boost DePIN networks with incentivized restaking

Parasail is partnering with peaq to accelerate the growth of new DePINs (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks) through an incentivized restaking mechanism, ensuring service reliability with refund guarantees.

Parasail’s restaking pools act as Web3 insurance, boosting user confidence and supporting DePINs on peaq. This collaboration allows users to restake tokens, secure DePINs, and earn rewards, fostering robust networks and facilitating broader adoption in the DePIN space.

5. Ajuna Network launches epic blockchain gaming event

Ajuna Network introduces “The Last Battle of Bajun,” a revolutionary blockchain gaming experience. Over three months, players can earn SoulPoints, mint Ballz, and win AJUN tokens.

The event highlights the community’s dedication and features Ajuna Avatars, with rewards based on SoulPoints and asset multipliers. Seasons 1 and 2 each offer 1% of the AJUN supply, while BBB offers 2%, with payouts starting September 30th. From now on, you can join the battle and secure your AJUN tokens.

6. SubWallet integrates Polkadot <> Kusama bridge

SubWallet is the first to integrate the Polkadot <> Kusama bridge, allowing users to send DOT and KSM between Polkadot Asset Hub and Kusama Asset Hub with the SubWallet browser extension v1.2.6. Mobile and web dashboard support is coming soon. At this moment, cross-chain transactions currently incur high fees of 2 DOT or 0.4 KSM.

7. RING from Darwinia is now tradeable on Hydration

RING token from Darwinia Network is now tradeable on Hydration. As an Omnipool listing, users can benefit from single-sided LPing of Darwinia Network’s RING or use it to pay for gas on Hydration.
