Weekly news from Kusama & Polkadot #62

--

1. Bittensor has won the 65th parachain auction on Kusama

Just a week after securing a parachain slot on Polkadot, Bittensor decided to self-fund also a slot on Kusama. By using their own 2050 KSM worth $64k, Bittensor did that.

Bittensor is a decentralized, open-source protocol that utilizes blockchain technology and tokenization to create a network for machine learning.

Bittensor aims to improve the development of artificial intelligence by implementing a training strategy that rewards models for participating in an iterative ecosystem. Additionally, Bittensor aims to promote fairness and collaboration in terms of ownership and access to AI.

2. The record-breaking conclusion of the Manta Network Trusted Setup

The Manta Network Trusted Setup ceremony is finally over. It was the largest and most diverse Trusted Setup in history, which was attended by 4368 contributions across 177 countries.

The new world record for the largest trusted setup in history was possible to make thanks to the support of the amazing Dotsama community and leaders like Gavin Wood from Parity.

The widespread adoption of a self-sovereign web3 relies in large part on the innovation of trustless privacy-preserving mechanisms such as zero-knowledge proofs. I’m thrilled to see the forefront of that innovation happening in the Polkadot ecosystem, Manta Network’s recent record-breaking trusted setup and the upcoming launch of MantaPay showcase the tremendous innovation in this field.”

By using the Zero Knowledge Proof Trusted Setup, anyone was able to participate in the ceremony, which helped to increase the security of the prover keys by contributing randomness and destroying toxic waste. Reward NFTs will be distributed to individual participants with the help of RMRK.

Manta Network is now about to launch MantaPay on Calamari, its canary network, after completing the testnet v3.

3. Phala Network has partnered with SaaS3 to build a highly scalable oracle

Phala Network has partnered with SaaS3 to build a trustless, decentralized, permissionless, and low-latency oracle solution for the Web3 industry using Phat Contract.

With the ability to upload off-chain data feeds of any data type to any Public Distributed Ledger and provide computing services on them, SaaS3 intends to be the next-generation SaaS.

Phala’s ground-breaking off-chain compute programming architecture, a Phat Contract, enables smart contract developers to run their backend programs on a distributed infrastructure with anonymity, excellent performance, and minimal expense. Phat Contract allows for the use of oracles, cross-chain operations, data processing/indexing, and much more.

SaaS3 will be able to do computations using Intel SGX Secure Enclaves, also known as Trusted Execution Environments or TEEs, thanks to Phat Contract. This makes code execution deterministic and ensures that intermediate states are kept private, protecting against OS and hardware layer assaults.

4. Nova wallet added Pablo DEX to their DApp catalog

Nova wallet just added Pablo DEX to their Nova Wallet DApp catalog. By doing this, Nova wallet users can now participate in a range of DeFi activities on Picasso, a canary network of Composable Finance.

Pablo DEX enables to trade of PICA tokens and LP into the current liquidity pools:

  • LP PICA/USDT
  • LP KSM/USDT
  • LP PICA/KSM

Nova wallet also enables staking of many different tokens such as DOT, KSM, GLMR, MOVR, TUR, etc. Voting in on-chain governance is also one of the main features of Nova wallet.

5. OriginTrail joins Buildchain project to help create a more sustainable construction environment for the EU

OriginTrail joins the BUILDCHAIN project to help create a more sustainable construction environment for the EU using OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG). This new partnership brings discoverable and trusted knowledge assets as digital twins of buildings to the Decentralized Knowledge Graph.

Trace Labs, a Web3 development company, joins the EU’s efforts to create a smarter and more sustainable built environment with the BUILDCHAIN project. Together with eleven other partners from Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Spain, Greece, and Serbia, Trace Labs will use the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) to build a trusted knowledge base that aims to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and increase transparency and trust. This will ultimately lead to more sustainable construction projects which now lack standardization, incentives, and data security.
