Weekly news from Kusama&Polkadot #29

1. Karura EVM+ has entered phase one of the release process

According to this tweet from Bryan Chen from Acala Network, Karura EVM+ has just entered phase one of the release process.

As Bryan Chen, the co-founder of Acala, stated at the AmsterDOT conference the last week, EVM+ will be enabled firstly on Karura and later on Acala in those 3 steps.

The first phase is a private release, aiming to test everything on production, with limited dApps available. The first dApp to allow bridging will be the Wormhole bridge.

During the second phase, more dApp will be onboarded, but dApps will need to either request Karura governance approval or simply pay a relatively high amount of KAR deposit.

The deposit to publish contracts will be reduced to a very low value during the third phase, so then everyone will be available to deploy & publish their contracts.

2. AstridDAO was launched on Astar Network

AstridDAO, the decentralized money market and the multi-collateral protocol was launched on 28th April. Since that, AstridDAO already reached $40M in TVL, which moved AstridDAO to 3rd place in terms of TVL of all dApps on the Astar Network, just behind Starlay Finance and ArthSwap.

Besides staking the $ATID token, you can morrow a USD-pegged stablecoin $BAI for a 0.5% fee. AstridDAO lists $ASTR as the 1st collateral on its protocol.

3. Mangata X to integrate aUSD as the default stablecoin

Mangata Finance and Acala have agreed on a partnership for using aUSD as the default stablecoin for liquidity pools for the currently launching Mangata X DEX on Kusama. The MGX-aUSD liquidity pair will act as an attractive staking option in Mangata X's revolutionary Proof-of-Liquidity mechanism.

Mangata is a next-generation DEX that makes tokens from all ecosystems tradable on a single exchange. It features gasless swaps, prevents front-running and MEV without additional fees and secures the network with the revolutionary proof-of-liquidity consensus.

4. Equilibrium introduced utility token EQ

Equilibrium recently introduced a new utility token $EQ. This new advanced native asset works on any blockchain that is bridged with Polkadot. The main features of EQ are governance, gas for transaction fees, bailout and collateral liquidity and staking.

5. Bifrost won the 34th auction on Kusama by self-funding

Bifrost is the winner of the 34th parachain auction on the Kusama network by self-funding 136k KSM. It's the second won parachain slot on Kusama, but this time it was without using a crowdloan. Projects like Karura, Kilt and Moonriver already used this strategy to get the parachain slot relatively for cheap.
