Welcome to Polkadot Governance News #16 MAR24. If you follow OpenGov drama closely, you might notice that there are several controversial referenda. One of the most discussed ones was surely ref. #507 — Polkadot Community Workspace NYC by Transistor, which finally didn't pass.
Since the start of the Decentralized Voices (DV) program, none of us delegates on Polkadot nor Kusama thought it would be an easy task. But with higher amounts demanded, responsibility rises even more. Pressure from public agents, entities who submit proposals, and those smoking guys in the shadows, put even more emphasis on the correctness of the decision-making process, which includes precise due diligence.
But one thing is clear now. The diversity of opinions that graduated with Kukabi’s statement is a really good thing. Not just in the DV program, but in OpenGov structures overall. We learn from ourselves and also from others, and that makes us better at what we are doing. Despite dozens of hours of due diligence, discussions, and constant pressure, we keep on track and evolve. Our voices cannot be stopped. Voila!

- The Polkadot Blockchain Academy is a program that helps people learn about Polkadot.
- The program will happen from May 20 to June 20, 2024 at the National University of Singapore.
- 90 people will be able to attend in person, and 50 to 100 people will be able to attend remotely.
- Requested amount: 167k DOT.
Polkadotters opinion: AYE. We’re all in for the Polkadot Blockchain Academy because let’s face it, where else can you find such a powerhouse of developer education and community integration? The impact speaks for itself — graduates are not just launching projects on Polkadot, they’re practically recruiting an army of brilliant minds to fuel our beloved ecosystem.
2. Polkadot Referenda 560: Polkadot Hydration: Treasury LP
- HydraDX aims to enhance liquidity by leveraging 1,000,000 DOT from the Polkadot treasury.
- The funds will remain under the control of the Polkadot Protocol and OpenGov.
- Requested amount: 1M DOT.
Polkadotters opinion: AYE. It’s a good strategic move to deepen DOT liquidity of HydraDX Omnipool, that will benefit users the most. And in a decentralized manner, when those funds will remain under the control of the Polkadot Protocol and OpenGov.DeFi on Polkadot
3. Polkadot Refernda 539: Polkadot Asia Developer Community Expansion for 1 Year Operation
- OneBlock+ aims to sustain the Polkadot developer community program throughout 2024, targeting over 10,000 developers in Asia.
- Their strategy includes promoting Polkadot technology, providing developer support, organizing technical events, and offering educational courses.
- Requested amount: 39,3k DOT.
Polkadotters opinion: NAY. We believe, that using marketing bounty, events bounty or some Asian bounty with trusted curators would make more sense than submitting a separate proposal.
